How to Verify Steam Account in Dota 2?
Like many other competitive video games, the flagship game mode for Dota 2 is the ranked game mode. Since Dota 2 is free to play, people can easily create a new account and start playing ranked against low-ranked players or start hacking in the ranked mode after getting banned on an older account.
These are some of the primary reasons why the gaming experience of legitimate players gets ruined. To prevent this issue from ever entering Dota 2, Valve has added a mandatory verification process, which is necessary for anyone who wishes to play ranked in Dota 2. Here is a complete step-by-step guide on how to verify a Steam account with Dota 2.
Step 1: Launch the Steam client and log in to the account you wish to verify for Dota 2.
Step 2: Click on your username in the upper right section of the Steam window.
Step 3: Click on the “Account details” option.
Step 4: Find and click on the “Manage your phone number” option.
Step 5: Type your phone number in the blank space and click on the “Next” button.
Step 6: Steam will send you a code to verify your phone number.
Step 7: After verifying your phone number, launch Dota 2 and go to the ranked “Find Match” window.
Step 8: Click on the “Associate Phone With Dota” option, which will automatically verify your Steam account with Dota 2.
Note: If you can’t see the “Associate Phone With Dota” option, your account is not eligible for ranked yet.
